“We are not provided with wisdom, we must discover it for ourselves, after a journey through the wilderness which no one else can take for us, an effort which no one can spare us.” — Proust

I’m writing to you from the recesses of 2022. Apparently I can schedule a post for… dun dun dun! The Future.

I have to do this because, as we sit here, we are in the hospital, awaiting admission for induction of labor, a week earlier than planned. I think this post wants to be about the medicalization of pregnancy, or the CYA (cover-your-ass) attitude of our society, or the string of unnecessary interventions that come from unnecessary tests. But it’s 2023, so we can discuss those things later. We can always hope that this year will be our best year yet.

if you’d like to read what we’re doing for 30/30 at Tupelo Press, the official link, with our daily poems, is:

https://www.tupelopress.org/the-30-30-project-january-2023/

If you like what you’re reading and would like to contribute to supporting the arts, my donation page is:

THANK YOU if you have already contributed! If you don’t see your name on the page or you haven’t heard from me to thank you, please let me know because there was a kink in the link on their end and I can email them so that your name shows up on my page.

We have a few other published things to announce, but that will have to be later this month.

until next time! Always go black tie.
